Part 01
Registering harvest blocks
Upload cutting blocks or forest management units, with the harvest window and the species harvested.
What a harvest block is
A harvest block is a cutting block, an annual cutting area, or a forest management unit or concession: a plot of your register whose kind is a harvest block rather than a tree-crop plot. It carries a harvest window and the species harvested, and it is validated, attached to a producer and put on a shipment the same way any other plot is.
Importing blocks
Wood imports › Harvest blocks
Country of harvest sets the country for the book, or leave it From the file where each feature already carries its own. Import harvest blocks takes GeoJSON, a zipped shapefile, KML or KMZ, one polygon per block.
| Field | What it is |
|---|---|
| Reference | Your own reference for the block. Required, and must be your own: it cannot already be used by a plot. |
| Type | Cutting block or forest management unit. Local terms (an annual cutting area, a coupe, a concession) are read the same way. |
| Harvest window | The start and end date of the harvest, or a whole calendar year where exact dates are not kept. |
| Species | The scientific and common name of every species on the block. A product made of wood must carry the full scientific name of each species in it, so a block with no scientific name is refused rather than guessed. |
| Country, producer | The country of harvest, and the concession holder or forest owner, matched by name against your existing producers. |
The import result
The line under the controls states how many blocks were registered, how many records were withdrawn because a boundary changed, and, where the batch carried any, how many of the rows would be rejected. A block with no reference, a point given instead of a polygon, a window that ends before it starts, a species with no scientific name, or a reference already used by a plot, are each named by the block's own reference.
The register
The tiles above the map count blocks in the register, the total area declared, how many are forest retained after harvest, how many are candidates for review, and the price of a block record. The map plots every block with geometry, coloured by outcome; the table below lists every block with its type, area, country, harvest window and record.
Read every block with no record yet queues a read across the whole register; see Reading the block record for what comes back.
Changing a block after it is registered
The harvest window and the species can be changed after registration. Changing the window re-reads the stored record from what was already measured, since the window changes what the record can say about the time after the harvest and nothing that was measured on the ground.
