The harvest block record: register your cutting blocks and management units, read what the record shows, and carry species onto the statement.

This guide is for a purchasing or sustainability lead at a company importing wood under Regulation (EU) 2023/1115. A harvest block, a cutting block or a forest management unit, is read differently from a tree crop: the question is whether the ground was forest at the cutoff and, after the harvest, whether it still is.

What the record is

For a harvest block you register, the record reads the open satellite record over the block and reports one of three outcomes: a finding that the block's forest stands after the harvest, a withheld record naming why the open record cannot answer, or candidates for review where clearing of the block's forest after the cutoff needs a closer look. Reference sets out each outcome and what the record does and does not say.

Species declared on a block carry through to the Article 9(1)(a) statement whether or not the block record itself is switched on for your account; see Blocks on a shipment and the statement.

Where it is

Harvest blocks sits in the portal sidebar, under its own Wood imports group, once your workspace has the lane switched on. The page holds your block register, a map of the blocks by outcome, and the panel for one block at a time. Everything here is also reachable through the API; see Registering harvest blocks.

Who this record is for

A purchasing lead uses it to register the blocks behind a consignment and read what the record shows on each before it ships. A sustainability lead uses the same record, and the shipment report built from it, as the file to keep beside the statement.

Other lanes

The portal's EUDR workflow, for plots of tree crops under due diligence, has its own guide, and a forest owner or insurer reading a storm or beetle season's stands has a third:
